Etico Productions, which brought the hilarious If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to Meadow Brook Music Festival, is bringing the mouse back this summer. If you think giving a mouse a cookie is a recipe for disaster, try taking one to school. If You Take a Mouse to School, based on the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff, is a hilarious story of chaos, mishaps and a very messy science experiment.

A young boy and a mischievous mouse interact with a cast of characters including teachers, coaches and one very confused bus driver. Emily Sutton-Smith, straight from her critically acclaimed performances in Smell of the Kill at Williamston Theatre and A Picasso at the Performance Network, shares in the mayhem as the boy’s mother. Ms. Sutton-Smith was seen last year at Meadow Brook Music Festival in If You Give a Pig a Pancake and was also recently featured in the film Gifted Hands starring Cuba Gooding Jr.

Joining her in the mischief and trying to corral the rambunctious rodent, the role of the soccer coach will be played by award winning actor James Bowen, direct from the world premiere of Nobody at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and recently seen in the critically acclaimed K2 at the Performance Network.

A tale of true friendship, this high-energy theatrical production is filled with music and laughter, sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. John Manfredi, an award-winning director, has secured the rights to the classic story which he has adapted to the stage. He will produce and direct the production as well.

If You Take a Mouse to School is sponsored by the Michigan Education Trust (MET), Michigan Education Savings Plan (MESP) and Great Wolf Lodge, and is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
